a 'Wish' fulfilled.
We gave Lawrence a day out at catterick Army Barracks. He spent
the day looking round all the tanks and had the honour of sitting
in the turret and operating the gun but not firing it! |
This shows just a little of what we do and the reasons why we do it. Our aim is to grant the 'Wishes' of children suffering from a life threatening illness, from the age of 2 to 16.
Our gallery page shows a few of the 'Wishes'
we have fulfilled for our very special
children, and brought a smile to what can sometimes be a very
traumatic time, not only for the child concerned but also for the
families.
If you could see these children, you would be touched by their
courage and some with the prospect
of many months, sometimes years, of very painful treatment. We aim
to bring a sparkle into their lives no matter how big or small.
If you have happy healthy children you know what joy it brings
to see them smile. This is something we should never take for granted,
When You Wish Upon A Star deals with those other areas where
a sick child's Wish actually becomes a reality in what may
sadly be a short life.

| Alara had always wanted a car so to her
surprise we delivered a Beetle. It was the same as her mum's
and she was highly delighted |
To be able to fulfil a Wish is an incredible
achievement, this can bring a huge smile to a child's face!
Also to the parents who have taken time out from the visits to doctors
and hospitals to actually have time to enjoy life with their son
or daughter doing what they have always dreamed of, sadly too many
families go through this heartache with children who are not as
lucky as some.
To make that vision a reality we rely overwhelmingly on the
generosity and hard work of our supporters. Quite simply,
the more money we receive, the more Wishes we can have the pleasure
of granting.
The saddest part of the year, is when one of the children dies.
If you could have been there to see their joy and happiness during
the special moment we were able to arrange for them, then you will
understand why our work must continue.
